Last Minute Repairs

Coming down to the end now.  Just 11 days until Landen and I head for Washington and before that we need to be all packed up and house cleaned ready for the sale.  The FHA did their first inspection and now we are having all the little things done that they saw.  Some of them even the repair man could not see what was wrong so both he and Jaun said to forget it since it wasn’t even on the list of things that must be repair before the last inspection.  Today the roof man is here to fix the problem left by the roofers that put on the new roof the year before we bought the place.  It really needed to be done and we never knew it but can see why now.  Also the handyman to fix all the little things that were wrong came today to give us a cost to fix them all.  So far it is staying within what I had in my mind set aside to do the repairs.  As long as it goes as it is so far I will be a happy camper.

I do hate to leave my blueberries before I see my spring crop, which should be a pretty good one but them I have had to leave many other crops and never find out how they did so I should be used to that.  Today Landen weeded the blueberries for me and then helped me fertile and mulch them all.  This gets done four times a year.  This is the spring feeding and many of the buds are already set.   The round buds are berry buds and the pointed ones are leaf buds.  It looks like a great crop coming on about ten bushes.  Now I will leave all the new owner needs to do the next feeding in March.  By then there should be some berries already to bloom.  I did find two bloom already.  I have never grown Florida berries before so am not used to them coming so early.

Megal is here working on the roof.  Tomorrow Patty and Tyler are coming with their trucks and moving most of our furniture, I want to save enough for us to live since we have another week to be here but I want to get out all I can so we can clean the whole place really good.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
