Four Bare Walls

Boy! I had all kinds of help today.  Patty came with her truck and Tyler to help fill it.  Tom came with his truck and Landen was here to help him so between the four of them they pulled out all my furniture and hauled it down to the storage unit.  They took the biggest pieces first then the smaller ones so they would pack it in nice and tight so it would hold more.  Then they took all the boxes we had not gotten down there yet and some things that just didn’t go into boxes well and most of those they put on the shelves.  I could never have done that without all the help and even with them doing all the work I got worn out!!  Now all Landen and I have to live with this week is our recliners because Patty would like them in her living room, my bed cause that will get put out for the garbage man when I leave and Landen’s bed which is a trundle bed that Patty would like for her living room.  The top bed is a couch and the trundle or under bed will be a spare bed they can use movie night or when company needs a place to sleep.  We have one sauce  pan and two frying pan to cook with, two small plates to eat off of and silver ware to eat with.   Today we had  left overs from yesterday – Landen had fish and chips left over and I had salmon with potatoes left over.  Then I air fried two potatoes and a small steak for Landen as he really needs more to eat than I do and where I work him so hard I think I had better feed him well too.

Now I have a couple boxes to pack up to send to Wenachee with all my papers that Shanti organized for me and one with a few small things I want when I get there but can’t fit them into my suit case.  I have one more to pack for Shanti and one I had all ready and just never got to the post office.  But I can’t do those until I organize all my things here.  I had them laid out on the two tables but as they boys took the tables everything on the tables were just piled up and put in on my bed.  Now I have to get my head around those again and sort which I need to take and what I need to do here before we go.  I find it so hard to make all the decisions about every thing and keep it straight.  I want it all straight and done before I leave because once I get to Wenachee I don’t want to have the think of anything else but tutoring and organizing lesson plans and lines of attack.

Tomorrow we will have pork chops, potato, corn and green beans with stuffed eggs for snacks and supper.  I need to go to the store for fruit, milk and chips.  Then Tuesday I will have pasta and Landen will have Pork chop and potatoes again.  Wednesday Patty comes after work so I want the house all organized so tomorrow and Tuesday we will work hard to have it all organized and take down to Good Will or Safe Space with anything that is left that I don’t want to try and find a space in the storage units.  I haven’t seen them but Patty and Tyler they are very, very full.  When Patty and Tyler build their house they will take most of the furniture but Joe will have to help me sort all the small stuff when we move here –  WOW what a job this has been.  Norman always organized it so well I laved moving but when I have to decide what to keep and what to pitch and how to store it,  I don’t think I will be quite as fast to move again.

Thursday Tom has invited us to his house for supper so Landen can get something other than pork chops and Friday is back to pork chops.  Saturday and Sunday  we will be at Shirley’s or on the way there or back so we will have something other than pork chops and then it is just two days to close up everything and we will call in for delivery .  Monday we turn in the car and the com caste  TV so Tuesday we will just tweetel our thumbs and get rest up for an 8 hour flight to Wenachee.  Sounds lie a full week but we are ready for it.  Anything that doesn’t get done will just get put into the garbage or Patty will take care of it after we leave.  Becca will take us to the dealership to turn in our car and then she will take us to the air port on Wednesday.

Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
