Froggy Went A Courting

I am almost back to normal.  My only problem now is I have so little energy.  But that too shall pass.  The weather has turned hot so that could account for the low energy.  A cool front is due here tomorrow so that could help.  Anyways I am getting two things done, I am still losing weight and I am getting more animals done.  I am working on the third lion but he is not done yet.  I finished Miss Mousey . Photo on 5-2-16 at 12.52 PM

Isn’t she cute?  I even remembered the whiskers on this mouse.  She is really a vole but it was the closest thing I have to a mouse pattern and a vole is nothing but a wild mouse anyways. Photo on 5-2-16 at 12.51 PM

The front view is not as good as you can’t see her black eyes or nose.  In the song she lives with her Uncle Rat and she has to ask him for permission to marry Froggy.  Here she is with Uncle Rat.  Photo on 5-2-16 at 12.49 PM #3

You can see she is very tiny compare to Uncle Rat.  Again I didn’t have a pattern to make a rat so I used the pattern for the mole.  I gave him a black nose and gray feet where the pattern for the mole called for pink nose and pink feet.  I do like the dungarees  on him.  He also has a hat.Photo on 5-2-16 at 12.49 PM

He needs a hard hat to go into the mines.  He also needs a light.Photo on 5-2-16 at 12.48 PM #2

And he needs protective googles to work the mines.Photo on 5-2-16 at 12.48 PM

And with a shovel to dig with he is all set for work.  I love the extras even if Uncle Rat doesn’t need them.  The kids will have fun dressing him up for work.   Now I need to make Froggy, the moth, the flea, a black beetle, and a white dove as well as the wedding supper which is a fried mosquito and a black eyed pea.  I love the song so had to do the animals for it.

Patty comes home today.  She spent the week-end in Jacksonville and is bringing me yarn and fur from Shirley.  I can’t wait to see it!!  I hope there is a skein of black yarn for Black Mombo.  I love the fur for the lions mane and the squirrel’s tail .  All those things just make the animals come to life but I could not afford to buy those extras.  It is like Christmas every time Patty comes back from here visits.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

Hello, Carol, Those creatures are too cute for words!! You are so creative to think of all those things like a hard hat and a light! You will have to keep Patty visiting Shirley for all those goodies.
We are having some nice spring weather, including blackflies moving in!

Keep takiing it easy! You really are very busy in a different way!
