Getting Back Into Life

I am getting back into life slowly but I am getting there. I have been in a fog for over a year now and finally have all that I have left of my live around me now and trying to get back into working on my many former past times.
For many years I did research on the family tree that my mother had started. I enjoyed that very much and followed many different branches of our tree to. the end of each but then I got so busy on the farm I had to put it aside. Now I have the time and interest again so am trying to get back into it.
One of the problems I have now is finding all the documentation for what I had found. I have boxes of information and notebooks full but not enough organization to follow it easily so that is what I am doing now. Putting it all together so it will make sense to whoever gets stuck with all my data. When I am done I hope someone is really interested and they will be able to follow my work.
I am still finding new threads. Nancy just sent me information on our Brown connection to the May Flower. I know I have some information on the May Flower but not the Brown connections that I can find so far anyways. When I was working on that line before I know I found Norman’s connection to John Alden and that was such an easy and direct connection I lost interest in the other lines I was working on and then I got into the “Kings Daughters” in Canada and Nana Petts’ connection to them and got lost in that line. There is so much to follow and so interesting. So now I am diving in again and my mind is not as sharp as it used to be so I can’t work at it too long at a time.
I rest my mind by following other of my hobbies, so yesterday I started a new puzzle. That is such a fun pass time and so relaxing. I also went onto ebay and put a bid in on a few more puzzles as I will want to keep one of those going all the time.
I also watered my plants again yesterday. I thought it would rain for me but it didn’t so I did the watering again. I have four more days of needing to water each day then I can go to every other day for a week or two. By then they should have their roots going out and be developed enough to ease off a bit. This week end I will mulch and feed them all for the first time.
Otis is learning to play. Yesterday when James came over to see him, Otis got all excited and jumped so high and ran around just as Bullet does every time he sees Otis and me. Bullet knows how to play then by chasing a ball, Otis has no idea what he should do after he jumps up and down a few time and runs around you. But it is a great start for the little guy and does give him some much needed exercise. I try to get him playing since he refuses to go for walks with me. He does not want to be away for the house now. He feels safe here and does not when he gets out of sight of the house. But I will keep on trying to get him to walk again and maybe he will feel safer with me there.
Nothing new going on here. When and if I find anything interesting in the history I’ll let you know. I think from looking at my spam I would say my blog must be pretty boring since I get many offers each day from people who want to sell me their essays to liven up my blog but I haven’t seen anything that I would want to pay for, I can bore you myself and that doesn’t cost me anything.
Have a good day and I’ll try to find something interesting to tell you, talk to you tomorrow.
PS. Don’t forget to leave a comment, I believe you click like and a message comes up, just say hi so I know you saw my blog or stay and shoot the breeze with me. Thanks

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
