Closer Every Day

I have been very busy around here with school starting and the kids birthday and our end of the summer trips so I have been very lax in getting the up dates on the progress of the house.  I have taken pictures and just never get to put them on my posts so now I will put in the picture tell you what it was and not try to put them in order except for the one I took yesterday.

This was three weeks ago when they hooked up the house to the city sewer system.  That meant the water was all working in the house and now all we needed was the sinks etc to be ready to go. This is the running water they use  when they are working on the

house,it is functional in the house but the pipes are not all in or the sinks.

Two or three weeks ago now they put up the wall boards and then they taped, plastered and sanded all the walls.

The next thing they did was to put in the ceilings.  That they did while we were in St Augustine for the long Labor Day week end so I didn’t get pictures of that.  We go over to the house each Saturday when Tyler gets home from work and have our party there as I get pictures of the work done that week.  We love to just sit in the empty house and dream of what we need to do next and what we need to plan next.  The next week end we were not here either, we were in Winter Haven having a birthday party for the twins, they love Lego Land and wanted to go there instead of having another party at home, they already had one of those with their dad.  So when they come in a painted the walls I missed it.  This week they have been in doing a lot of electrical work.

We had our party Saturday and these are the pictures I got from that.

I just went to get the pictures I took this Saturday to show you all they had done the last two weeks and my pictures were gone so I had to go back to my camera and load them into my lap top again but they didn’t go instantly like they did last time so I will have to try again later or wait a day or two for them to get loaded in.  I will not wait now, I’ll just post this much and as soon as my new pictures come I will show you the new ceilings and painted wall and switch plates etc.  It is coming along nicely and we hope to be moving in in about a month, I hope to get the building permit pulled this week so they can start building the shed I got.  That takes two months to build and set up on the lot.  We also have the back pad that needs to be poured so there is still quite a bit to do.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
