Now We Are Insolated

They have been working on the house for about ten days now, doing a little here and a little there.  Then on Thursday last week the new crew came in and stuccoed the house.I  went over to the house and got some pictures to send you but I never got to do the blog and this morning I put the pictures in the trash thinking I had used them.  And so that is the way things are going here what with the end of summer camp and the beginning of the new school year mixed in with all the sickness we have had I don’t know if I am coming or going.  Luckily all the illnesses have passed me by and I just went out and got two pictures of the new face on the house.

This is the side next to us.  Now we have to wait for the stucco to dry and set and they will paint it.

it is hard to see since I was taking the picture with the camera facing right into the sun but you get the idea.  They are over there now working inside, I am not sure what they are doing but will find out tonight.  Tyler has picked a dark forest green for his color and with a black trim and black roof it should look elegant.  This last week they also put in the insolation.  Here are pictures we took of that .

This is in the garage, that is the wall between the garage and the living room.

You can see they are not finished yet  maybe that is what they are doing over there today.    It should be a nice tight house when they are done, easy to heat and easy to cool.

This is in the living room.  more insolation  all around

looking toward the back, Tyler’s room on the left and the kitchen on the right of this slider.

The kitchen, nice window over the sink and the bar Tyler wanted between the kitchen and living room.  Patty’s room on the left.  I thought for a while I was going to have to have that room because that is where they put the cable but Tyler said no he can move the cable so I can have the front room that I wanted and Patty can have the quiet back bedroom.

Just an over view of the inside of the house, back wall Patty on the left me on the right.

This one is very hard to see but I did want to show you the soffits.  They are so different.  I wish I could get a better picture and may try later.  Anyways they are not the usual light plastic one you always see in the older houses, these are screens set in stucco and solid so when the hurricanes come we will not have to replace half the soffits like we always have had to before.  This is the same builder that Patty had to do her house 23 years ago.  She was very happy with that one and now they are doing things like this that are even better than her old house.  Norman was the one who recommended them to her 23 years ago when he was in real estate here in Florida and knew all the builder.  I think they are still the best there is and cost wise I think we are getting more for our money than we could have from anyone else.    Have a happy day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
