Framing The House.

Saturday the workers were here all day from 8 in the morning to 8 at night.  I never saw them stop for a break or to eat but they must have putting in a 12 hour day in this heat is cruel and unusual punishment.  However we are happy as that gets us into the house that much sooner.  Here are the pictures of the framing work they were doing.  It is something like the other houses we had built but they were all wood where this one is a wood frame but in a concrete box and I get to see every step with this one.

this is Patty staining in the living room looking at the bedrooms;.  We could not make this jive with the picture and floor plan that she had so we have decided this is a different model that the one she had pictured.  It is just as good and in a couple ways they like this one better.  I thought the rooms looked small but yesterday we measured them and the bedrooms are 11foot by 11 foot  which is what the plans call for, it is just that the lay out is a little different than we thought, maybe better.   We are all happy with what we are seeing and that is all that matters.

Here is a look at the over all framing, standing in the living room looking at the garage and Tyler’s bedroom and bath.

Here is Tyler standing in his bathroom, checking it out and all he can see from that window is this house and what will be Gina’s bedroom.  She can’t see into his house at all so he is happy, he gets some light in there but no one can see in unless they stand right out side the window to look in and the heaven help them if they try that!!

This is Tyler’s walk in closet.  It isn’r hugh but he can walk in and he is so pleased with that.  He wants shelves in there for his paint ball equipment.  He has never had a walking closet before, all to himself. The only other thing he really wanted is a bar in the kitchen and he is getting that too.

The Bar will be between the kitchen and the living room, otherwise know as a counter.  He will keep it as a bar but mostly for eating.  When he eats alone he likes to eat at the bar/counter instead of at the table.

I just had to take a picture of this, it is my closet.  I will at last have a whole closet to myself.  I don’t have much to put in it right now but when I get into those two storage units I’ll have more than enough.  Much of it will go out in the storage shed/craft room so I can keep my room clean and uncluttered. one more picture.  I tried to get the attic area over the garage but it is pretty dark.

I don;t think you can see it but they do have the plywood flooring down for us which is nice and saves use having to put it up there. There is no one over there today working but will watch and when they come I’ll get the picture for you.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
