I Saw the Sun Today

It started out as a beautiful day but now it has gotten all clouded in.  Joe comes home today, I hope he beats the now to the top of the mountain.  I thought when I got up, what a great day to make the drive.  I wasn’t sure the sun was still up there but it found a peek hole this morning.  Now is about the time Joe should be almost up the mountain and he seems to be pushing all the clouds ahead of him.  As long as he gets here I don’t care.

Along about this time each day I run out of steam.  I guess I always have.  When I was teaching, three o’clock was the time that school got out and the kids were all on the bus headed home and we teachers could relax and get ready for the next day.  I very seldom kept a kid after school because I didn’t want to extend my work day by some kid who could not behave.  Many times I had to stay late for meetings or in Wolfboro I stayed to bring Joe home from sports but at least I could work alone and relax.  Then when we lived on the farm in TN three o’clock still signaled the end of the work day.  Norman always came into the house then and we just sat and played cards or had a glass of wine.  And when we moved to Florida, three o;clock continued to end the day.  We had our main meal and once the dishes were done we sat down and watched TV or just read –  NO more work, so now I can’t break the routine, comes three o’clock and I get so sleepy I can’t stay awake.

The contract on the house is still in effect and progressing very well.  Of course you can’t count on anything until the last paper is signed but it looks good this time.  I have started to make plans again the sale of the house started that.  I do want to put some in the bank up here just in case I need some cash for something.  So far I haven’t wanted for a thing but who knows.

I am still working on my songs.  I had no idea there were so many songs that we have enjoyed over the years  Our tastes went from the popular artists to the country artists and many of those I knew the songs but not the artist so I have had to do some work to find them all.  I think I must have them all at least listed now and if I don’t I know I have enough of them.  I am still enjoying work on finding them and cataloging them.  Once I get that done then I’ll just relax and enjoy listening to them anytime day or night.  Each day I find another artist I had forgotten.  Today I found Robert Goulet,  I don’t see how I could have forgotten him.  He did so many of the show songs that we both loved like Sunrise, Sunset or If ever I should leave you.  Some artists there are only one or two songs I remember them for but him I have several and some like Miitch Miller or Perry Como or Johnny Mathis I have 15 or twenty songs I can hear them sing.  If you think of an old song that is one you liked drop me a quick note and see if I have it already or if I need to add one or two more.

Well here I go again, falling asleep on the computer so I will say Have a great day and I will take a short nap before Joe and Holly get home.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

What about Kris Kristopherson and his songs ie: Help Me Make It Through The Night or Molly Magee ???? His ex-wife used to sing with him in their younger days…….can’t think of her name right now. Guess you can ask that gadget you play with for help. Good!!!
    Love, Nancy

    • Hi Nancy, Thanks, I have Kris Kristropherson and many of his songs but I never heard of Molly Magee, I will ask Alexa to hear that one as soon as the kids movie is done. I know Molly Malone but not Molly Magee.

  2. Rosemary Rafuse says:

His wife was Reta Coolidge, I believe. I play his tapes quite often. I think the song you are thinking of is “Me and Bobby Magee.”

  3. Nancy O'Grady says:

Told you the wrong name of the song Carol…….It is Bobby McGee. The female singer with Kris is Rita Coolidge, his ex wife. Like some of their music on u tube.. Nancy
