Day is Done, Gone the Sun

For most of us the day is done but not for Holly.  She is not home yet for supper, she works so hard and so long I hope the company she works for knows what a jewel they have there.

I got up, made my call to Shirley and got any early morning call from Patty then got washed up and dressed and hurried down stairs to find Joe up already and working.  Today is a work day for him so he was on the phone and or computer all day.  It was nice for me just to have him here.  There is nothing I need except to have my family home and safe.  Holly is now on her way home, Laura just called and said she made it over the mountain.  She left to go back this afternoon and called when she got almost to the top of the mountain she called to say it was snowing so hard she could not see but she was more than half way there so could not just turn around.  We worried so was very glad to get word she made it.  I remember getting in a white out in Watertown, NY and never hope to be in ones again.

Joe took a break after lunch and we went shopping to get the vegetables for the week.  I also picked up a small pork loin because it was such a good price.  I got a 50 pound sack of potatoes, they are all laughter at me but Patty would understand, these boys go through as many potatoes as hers do.  They only cost me $8.59 for the 50 pound bag, how could I pass that up.  We have a garage in the basement of this house and it  has no heat in it but it is warmed some by the house itself so it is a perfect place to store the potatoes while we eat them.  For supper tonight we had some of the pork for chops and a great stir fry.  When Shanti was visiting last year she taught me how to make a stir fry.  Joe thinks I learned it well, they all loved it and I have enough more to make another one tomorrow night or the next as tomorrow Joe is cooking.  I gret a day off, as if I do so much.

I got busy this morning so early I forgot to have breakfast, even Luke was up early so we started on his school work much earlier than most days.  About 11 my stomach started to growl and that is when I realized I hadn’t eaten yet so stopped and had my breakfast.  I have been eating ever since so now I am finally full and done eating.

Time to quit and go to bed.  It always takes me about an hour to get things ready to turn in and I do want to be in bed by 10 so if I start thinking about it now I’ll get there in time.  Have a great day- talk at you tomorrow. Here is a Florida good day from Becca.  No worry, no stress just nice Florida day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
