Can’t Please Me

Today has gone too fast  Yesterday I complained that the days were going too sow and today I will complain that the day has gone to fast.  b

But that always happens when you are with people you love.  Joe worked around the house all day on his computer taking care of the business at his stores. He has a great crew t work with so that helps him a lot.  He took time off to work with me some too so we got our lunch meat for next week all sliced up – Everyone loves sandwiches for lunch and we cut up pastrami  , Peppered turkey breast and Ham.  We still had some cheese from last week and lots of lettuce so now we are set for another week.

Then Landen help me cut up the Skirt Steak.  I have never had this before so had to look up how to fix it so I would know how to cook it.  It comes in a large sealed package sand weighed over 17 pounds.  It was four skirts so I trimmed them some and cut them into fry pan size steaks and got three pieces from each skirt so we have four meals.  after they are cooked you slice them fairly thin and they are use for stir fry, taco, burritos etc  We will have one meal on Monday and Joe will make burritos with it.  He usually uses hamburg so the skirt steak should be a treat.  They say it is a very taste cut of meat and tender when it is cooked right.  We’ll see.  I know the will eat it no matter what it comes out like, that is why I love to cook for them.  Then I put on the beef stew for tonight.  the stew meat is really good as it is the pieces from the two steaks we had and most of it is top round.  That top round was great and so tender so the pieces I put into stew meat should be just as good and there is a lot of it.  I love having an unlimited budget for the meal.  Well, it isn’t unlimited just seems that way after cooking for two for so long and the prices are so good and the quality is the best  I have ever had.  I am not much of a butcher so it doesn’t always look as it should but it sure does taste great.  Oh, I forgot to mention the shirt steak was a good price to start with and then it was 25% off because it was getting near the sell by date which doesn’t matter at all as it is sealed and usually in other stores those pieces have no sell by date on them at all.

Luke and I worked on his school work this morning while his dad worked and we got a lot done, fractions, perimeters, reading and history.  He is so eager to learn, I don’t care how busy the day is I have to find time to work with him, he really wants to learn all I can yeah him.   I had best go and help with the dishes.  There is alway one or two of my men ready to do the dishes for me but I feel guilty just sitting here when they work.  Have a great day.

The end of another beautiful but cold day.  Now there is snow covering that mountain.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
