Play Day

Today I took a play day.  Started my day like ever other but then things went off.  I did work with Luke all morning.  He is so good at math and he does most of it in his head.  He likes the geometry best but I think when we finish the fractions he will like the algebra just as much as the geometry.   We did some reading and history.  Then stopped for lunch and did a little more school work and a friend from AL sent Joe a text to see if Luke could play his games on line with his son and of course I said yes, it is so important he have friends to play or associate with.  So he had a great time playing the game and talking with his friend and I sat there and looked up all the songs that were popular in the late 40’s and early 50’s.

Boy, did that bring back memories!!  I didn’t get in much exercise but I enjoyed the walk down memory lane.  Then when Luke was finished with his friend I asked Alexa to play each of the songs to be sure she could find them.  I didn’t get many of them done before I had to stop and get supper.  We didn’t eat until late, we waited until about 7:30 and finally I talked Luke into eating and not waiting any longer for Holly to come home.  Luke loved the pan fried potato and steak/ham, I put in the both of them that was left over from the last two meals we had  which gave a nice lot of meat for them.  He didn’t like the vegetables I had warmed up but did want seconds of the potato mix.  I was so afraid there would not be enough supper left for Landen and Holly that I also heated up the chicken soup I had made.  They finally got home about 8:30 both were exhausted and starved.  I had made Landen take a sandwich and that was all he had had all day so he went right to work on the soup and then Holly cleaned up all the vegetables and they split the potato mix and then felt ever so much better.

Landen did the dishes and went right to bed while Holly and I visited for a little while and then turned in.  I had started this blog last night and stopped when they got home and then never got bak to finish it – I would far rather visit with Holly when she gets home if she wants to talk so now here I am finishing up this morning.  That about makes my day except I to say  I slept well and missed my 5am rising time by almost an hour.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
