Last summer.  This is Luke getting ready to swim.

Christmas is coming on fast now.  Holly got home from work “early” tonight so took Luke Christmas shopping and I went to get a couple things I needed.  It was cold and really felt like Christmas.  We went to Target and boy were they busy.  The shelves in the toy department were almost bare and people were loading up their wagon as if there were a large sale.  I guess everyone got paid today or they knew something that I didn’t.  Luke got everyone a present and we came home.  Luke and I had our dinner at noon and then set up dinner plates for Holly and Landen so when we got home from shopping Holly and Landen had their dinner, Luke and I had a light supper before they got home.    Now Holly is helping Luke wrap his presents for everyone.    Luke loves to work with his mother.  I am working on a baby sweater.  I don’t know any one who needs one but Shirley sent me some pink yarn, I had the needles so I just had to knit.

Luke and I had a good day.  We did some math, some geometry, some reading, some spelling and then talked and read about a variety of topics he was interested in.  Tomorrow Joe and Laura get here  in the late afternoon or evening so I bet it will be hard to do much school work, there is Christmas in the air and all the excitement that goes with that so maybe we can discuss Christmas in the present and past  and Christmas in different counties,

Have a great day and Make this the happiest Christmas you have ever had,

make some great memories to carry with you through out the whole year.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

    • hi Nancy, Christmas Eve and for the last 27 years Norman and I hosted the Christmas Eve family party at Patty’s house. Family from all over the county came. Some years Kathy or her family came from CA, some times Phil came from NH, or Celina from RI, Joe from OK, and always Tom and his family, and of course Patty and family so there was always at least 12 there most years more. This year I made every one a Granny Square quilt, a hat and a sweater. It was to be a whopping Christmas Eve, but instead I called them and the party is going at full swing as I asked them to and I am here making sugar cookies and scallop potato. Just finished them and Luke has gone to his room so I called to see everyone and now I just have Sally (Luke’s) dog to celebrate with. Holly and Landen are at the hotel working, Joe and Laura are on the train going over the mountain and will get in here about 9 to night. Both had to work today. At least they will have three days home here once they get here. Tonight they frost cookie that Luke and I made. All new customs for me but the kids have done it all their lives so it is important to keep it up. Right now I am just feel sorry for myself I want Norman back and I want to be at our Party. Oh well, I’ll go find a smile some where, take a dish of ham and scalloped potatoes and wish every one a Merry Christmas. I hope you are having a Merry Christmas and that you get to see all of your kids.
Next year will be better I know Love and Happiness to you Carol
