Snow Again

Landen took this in TN just down on Baker Mount road.  I always loved this old empty house in the middle of the field.  It is perfect in black and white.

Another cold day, but what else should it be in the mountain in December?  At the top of the northern pass is a large ski resort and they must be singing.  We had snow again today and it looks as if the snow fell there all morning which would give them a nice new coating of snow on the slopes.  Laura arrived last night to pick up Joe.  Remember he came up on the bus which meant he had no car here to go home with so Laura drove up last night and took him back this morning.   They were not in a big rush to leave so I got to visit with Joe for a couple hours while he did some work and had a little breakfast.  Holly had to go in early again today.  With the holidays here there doesn’t seem to be a slow down just because it is mid-week and now the week end is back again and the hotels fill up.  Everyone wants to come to the moutons for Christmas and I can’t blame them.  Leavenworth is a lovely town and they do so much to entertain visitors.

Just a quick flash back to the warm ocean.  Hard to beat that!

When Laura and Joe started out the for caste for travel was alright but looking out the window I wondered, it was snowing pretty good here in the valley and y0u could not see the top of the mountain which was all white.  But they hoped to get up to the top before it got too bad and hoped the passes would not close.  I hugged everyone good bye , Landen was going as far as the hotel and getting off there to help his mother, and they started off.  Of course I sat here and worried and I think I heaped push them up the mountain.  They did make it but it was a slow hard drive, 35 mph most of the way but Joe got there in time for his meeting and no one was hurt.  There is a God in Heaven.  Now they will come back for Christmas.  Joe is coming by train and I am not sure about Laura, she doesn’t seem to fear anything.  She will be here on Christmas you can count on her.

Luke and I did all our school work today.  He did both pre algebra and intro to geometry, he did some writing and spelling and some reading of three different subjects.  I don’t think there is anything he would rather not do, he is so excited about learning and so much fun to work with.

Tonight is chicken.  I have made Chicken and Walnuts again, everyone like that and I like that the best when you have chicken breasts, I am not a white meat lover.   Tomorrow it is back to pork chops.  Luke and I organized the freezer today, with a chest freezer it is hard to find the one piece you want ,I take the meat out of the chest freezer and put it in the refrigerator freezer, then take it out of there each day.  Now I have it all set for a week except for Christmas day I am making the family decide what they want that day.  Have a great day

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
