Great Day

Landen shows me the way.  I do love Landens black and white pictures.  He knows how to catch the light just right.   I think this one was taken in TN.

This was a great day.  Joe went into work with Holly this morning because she had so much ahead of her.  She works so hard and then when some are out sick it just piles more onto her shoulders.  So Joe went in with her today to help.  Laura went back to Seattle  and will be back tonight later so she can bring Joe back for work tomorrow.  She will get some sleep and then leave in the morning early.  Holly had a meeting at 11:30 so Joe came back and had lunch with us then he took Luke and me shopping for Christmas.   We also went to the post office to mail out most of my Christmas cards.  Norman always used to help me make them out so this year I am behind and have not gotten them all written out but most of them.  I will finish them up tomorrow and get those into the mail then.  Then we went to a book store and I got a 6th grade geometry work book so Luke can review that and see if he remembers how to find areas and volumes and be sure he understands the concepts.  I also found an old algebra I book, old UGH 1950 That is the year I graduated from high school, I really hate to call it old!!  I like the older ones as they introduce the concepts slowly and give lots of practice on each.  If he needs to go deeper into any concept I can fill that in for him to practice on that too as I taught Algebra I enough years I could teach him without a book but it is easier on me if I don’t have to write all the exercise for him.

Then we went to the Mall and I got to see that for the first time.  We went into Victoria’s Secret and got Holly a gift card so she can pick out her own present as none of us had any idea what she would like or needs.  Landen got her one and I got one.  Then we went Bath and Body Works I think it is called and got some nice smelling stuff for Laura, Holly and Landen. With that we were ready to come home.  I am not much of a shopper.  I don’t care to Mall walk, when I have found what I want I am ready to go home and I had done all my shopping and Luke had too.

Once home Joe and Luke went out for a short bike ride.  Luke fell and Joe got very cold so they cut the ride short and came home.  Joe took a short nap and Luke talked with his friend on the computer.  I made supper and we ate early 5p.m. as he wanted to go back to Leavenworth to see if he could get Holly home early tonight  Landen went with him so  he could help finish up anything that needed to be done.  Sally is sure they are here now but I don’t think so.  Sally hates it when Joe leaves, she loves him so much  and misses him when he leaves.  But join the club Sally, we all do.  Sally is our little dog, she and I are becoming great friends but I can’t hold a candle to Joe.  Joe will be back the day before Christmas and then he will have three days before he has to go back so we will all have a Wonderful Christmas.  I want to end my message tonight with another of Landen’s wonderful pictures.  I wish he would look into this as a profession instead of just a hobby.

Continuing deeper into the woods with a hint  of something at the end of the road.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
