No Rest—–

The day started early again today.  I slept very lightly last night and by 4:30 I was ready to get up but hated to move so I lay there and at 5 I heard Shirley’s message come in.  She waits now until 8 before telling me she is up, that way she doesn’t wake me before 5.  I am sure if I were asleep I would never hear the little ding that tells me I have a message but usually I am wide awake just waiting for 5 so I can get up.  This morning we talked for half an hour or more and then I got up.  I did the usual, getting my letters written, and myself organized and visited with Holly for a while.  Holly was to stay home today and bake the cakes she needs for her party for her help on the 19th.  But it was not to be, there were three people who called in sick with the flue and with a full house checking out today and another full house checking in she and Landen had to go in to do some of the house keeping work that was not being covered by the sick people and of course they are under staffed anyways so both of them had their work cut out for them.

I got the banana bread made, two loaves for the freeze and one for Landen.  Then Luke and I worked on his school work.  We stopped for lunch and then worked again in the afternoon.   By 3:30 I was ready to quite and take a nap.  I was just finishing up the dishes and organizing the kitchen when Holly called to say they were on their way home, they would stop at the store and be here shortly.  That meant she was going to try and do the cooking tonight.  She did not want me to help and I was glad, I am tired!  So I finished getting supper ready and then left the kitchen to her.  Holly is still in the kitchen working .  Luke and Landen decorated the tree for their mother.  I am now going to see if I can help Holly and then I am going to bed.  Have a great day and we will all start again in the morning.

And now we are ready for Santa.  Landen has his suit and will be Santa at the hotel, maybe he will visit here too.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
