Back to Work

Joe left to get back to work early this morning and Holly and Landen had to go in early also.  Holly had hoped to get out early but her assistant called in saying she could not come in so Holly got stuck with a  full day at work after a late night last night the poor girl works all the time.  Landen goes in with her and helps her a lot.  Joe got into work about 10, the driving was good but it does take about 3 hours to get there.   Luke slept in this morning so I had a chance to do all my paper and computer work.  I found a way to keep track of my budget and credit cards and I think that will take some of the worry from my.  I really miss Norman with that.  He was always there to keep me from going over budget and with him watching it I didn’t have to worry now I seem to worry about it all the time and really should not as I have more than enough money to do what ever I want to but I guess old habits are hard to brake.

When Luke got done breakfast we picked up around a bit and got dinner ready then we got busy working on some school work.  He read from the story book we are working on, we did some math and spelling and grammar  and then talked about the world affairs a bit.  He is very aware of what is going on in the world and had many  questions about why things are happening as they are.  I had to be careful and keep my own personal ideas out of it and give him both sides of the problem.  Thanks to Kathy and Shirley I think I could give him a fair evaluation of the two sides so he can judge for himself why things are the way they are.  It is not all black and white there are really two sides and neither is all right or all wrong.   Then we talked about his history and how we could make a time line with all the states he has live in.  Then he needed a break and I had a call to make and before we knew it we were late getting supper ready and Holly and Landen would be home before we were ready.

By 6 p.m. we were ready for supper.  Holly and Landen were home and the cheese burgers were done so we all enjoyed a nice supper.  The cauliflower came out good.  I used the idea that Shanti gave me on broccoli and everyone loved the cauliflower and cheese.

Now another day is ending and I am looking forward to tomorrow.  Luke and I will make some cookies and as soon as my big mixer arrives we will make some bread and rolls.  Tuesday night Joe comes back and I hope to have some cooking done for him.  Laura arrived tonight after supper and there was some left overs for her too.  I don’t know how long she can stay but I hope long enough to get some cookies at least to take back with her.

Have  a great day  and Good night.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

Carol…you always do amaze me!!! What a huge change of pace in your world and now even the climate will be a big shock to your system. I know you will handle it all just fine and good for you!!!
Please don’t try to be ” Super woman ” though and get some extra rest. We love you and I am glad you are doing what makes you happy and useful.
Take care and buy some long Johns….you’ll need them soon enough!
    Always, Nancy

    • Hi Nancy,
So far I am handling the cold pretty good. I put on another layer and I stay inside so I make out fine. I do have some flannel bottoms and a long john shirt as well as a new long flannel nightie I got from LLBean, I also got a pair of fleece lined boots but I don’t see me ever using them as when it snows I will stay in side. Oh, well I can sell them when we are ready to leave here. Joe and Holly plan to find work in Florida when their lease runs out here and if they can find anything we will all move back to Florida.
I am really liking it here. It is quiet even when the whole family is here and there are no pressures on me. So I could not ask for more than this. I hope the sale of my house goes through alright. I won’t know for sure until it happens on the 28th. Patty and Becca went over this last week end and finished clearing it out and cleaning it ready for the sale. I could go just so far with everything but that last final step seemed to be hard in all things, that final good bye was so hard. I am so lucky to have such good kids, they have all supported me in this move even tho it was hard on Patty. I just could not see being alone while everyone was at work. Here I have Luke all day and Landen much of the day so even tho I don’t have to visit with them, they go about their business but they are close if I need to see someone. Just the best of both worlds.
      Love Carol
