Busy Summer

I have been very bad about keeping up with my blogs, fifty thousand excuses but not a single good reason.  First was the death of two wonderful men that has left a hallow place in my heart.  I never got to meet either of these men but I still feel the lose deeply because of the women they leave behind.  One was in Nova Scotia and one in up state New York and they both died the same night.   I lose myself in my sewing so I have gotten a lot of my Christmas presents done this last month.

My granny square afghans are done.  I have one for everyone at our Christmas Eve party.  The sweaters are getting there as you can see they have filled the box and starting over the top.  I have two more in progress and four more to do.  Also I have started on the Halloween trick or treat items.  I have the ghosts almost done.

I have these and seven more ready to stuff.  Then I’ll switch to pumpkins, candy corn,  and owls.  And of course my Star War figures take up most of my mornings.  I work on those in the morning as they are hard on my eyes and by afternoon my eyes are tired and I make too many mistakes to make them fun.

As you can see I have quite an army going now.

Here is the other end of the rows.  Now my table is almost full so I have put the Storm Troopers up on the other shelves.

I am making four sets of each and as Joe told me you need more than one storm troops in order to play with these, so I have made four for each set.  I am now finishing up Han Solo and he will fit on the table with the others but when I do Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Jabba The Hutt I will a\have to fine another place to put them.  Then I will work on the second book of patterns.  I have two of those done in this set but there are ten others.  I do have until Christmas to finish them so should get them done.

Two weeks ago my three daughters got together for a sister vacation in CA.

Here are my baby girls,  That is Shanti, then Kathy and then Patty.  This is the first time they have all been together in over 40 years.  They are all close but never together at the same time.  Shanti lives in NM, Kathy in CA, and Patty in FL all three have very busy lives but knows live is fleeting so decided they need to get together at least once a year.  I was invited but that is a long trip and they are better off without an old lady tagging along and slowing them down so instead we got together on face time and I got to visit with them for about an hour.  It was wonderful and I didn’t get too tired.

I found it hard not to cry, I was so thrilled to visit with these three sweethearts and I got all caught up on their visit and their lives.  I am truly blessed.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

I would say you are well blessed to have those daughters. We have one more than you and I am well blessed. Thank you for your mention of John; he is never far from from my thoughts. Tears flow fast and furious every day and night. We will keep working at it.
Norman must think he is living in a toy factory these days. Just beautiful you making so many people happy!

    • Norman is great about letting me make all these toys but is very glad when I give a bunch away. All these Star Wars toys will be gone at Christmas. Joe had said he didn’t want any of them, then his older son, Landen said he wanted five or six of them and then yesterday when I called Joe for my weekly visit he said he and the boys had decided they wanted a full set if it wasn’t too late. Of course that pleased me as I was already making a set for him. I will send some extras for Landen. Joe is moving again. Holly, Joe’s wife has gotten a new job managing a new hotel in Leavenworth which is about 3 hours away from where Joe works so Joe will get a smaller place in Mulkiltoe and a small place in Leavenworth so he can spend his days off with Holly and she will spend her days off with Joe. Boy, they work hard – good they are young.
      Love Carol
