Happy Thanksgiving to Me!!

Sunday Patty and Becca came to dinner and we spent the day discussing the plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  One thing we all agreed on was that Cherries Jubilee would be the best desert for both dinners.  They should make a big hit with our 5 year old twin boys to see the flaming cherries poured over their dish of ice cream.  So Sunday night I got on Amazon to see if I could get the canned cherries from them instead of having to hunt all over town trying to find Bing Cherries.  I of course found them on Amazon but I had to get 8 cans instead of the 6 I wanted and it cost me $36.72.  I thought long and hard but finally decided to just bite the bullet and get them.  Well they arrived this evening and wouldn’t you know it they were not sweet cherries in a heavy sauce like I needed but were Tart Cherries in water!!  I was sure I clicked the wrong item but went to my account and looked at the order.  I had ordered the right thing, Sweet Bing Cherries in Heavy sauce so I got right on the computer and wrote to Amazon.  I went to my order and clicked the button to say I was returning these because they sent the wrong thing.  There was a label on the top of the case of cans that said they were sweet cherries but the label on the cans said Tart cherries.  I asked what I should do next and as soon as I pressed “continue”  a message came back that they would send out a replacement right away.  No questions asked no proof of my statement, nothing just we will replace them right away.  I wanted the first can for Patty’s Thanksgiving dinner this Sunday so I told Norman I hoped they would come this week.  I then pressed the next continue button and a message come up that they were sending the replacement order now and they would arrive Thursday and I did not need to return the 8 cans I got that were wrong.  Again we knew why I have been a good customer of Amazon’s for more than 6 years.  I have been a Prime member since they first introduced Prime Moms.  This is only the third mistake and all three were handled in the same quick way.   Walmart are now trying to compete with Amazon but for me I’ll take Amazon every time.  Walmart are good about returns but not as good as amazon.   Have a good day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
