Good Night

Good Night by Claire Masurel and Marie H. Henry is Prem Gobind’s favorite story .Photo on 8-25-16 at 5.27 AM

This is her favorite book to read at bed time  So I make the dolls in the book for her.  Here is the best that I could do. Photo on 8-25-16 at 5.29 AM

This is Max, the bear. Shanti sent me a book so I could make the animals.  So I have made one set for Prem and one to have here for other great grand kids to enjoy also.  I have my Max the bear all done,Next on the bed is Zoe, a rag doll.Photo on 8-25-16 at 5.25 AM #2

I have a rag doll for me also except for the hair.  I think I will put longer hair on mine and put it into two braids. Next on the bed is Jojo, a rabbit.

Photo on 8-25-16 at 5.28 AMI have several rabbits done for me so I think I will just make a dress for mine and put it on Floppsy, Moppsy or Cottontail, which I have done already, then it can double for two different story books.  I don’t think I showed you Mother Rabbit and her brother, Benjamin Bunny with his son Benjamin.  So you see I do have lots of rabbits already.  Photo on 8-25-16 at 8.58 AM

This is Benjamin Bunny in the middle, with his sister, Mrs Rabbit and Peter Rabbit on the other side.  Young Benjamin is just like Peter only no coat and shoes.  Photo on 8-25-16 at 5.27 AM #2

This is Theo, the dinosaur.  He is not as big as the one in the book but this is the only pattern I could find and I was just as happy to make him smaller since I had to ship them all to California and that costs so much.

This is Oscar the clown.  I had to make the cloth for his body.  Patty who does so much quilting helped me with that.  I have mine all done except his head, which I will do some time soon. The only other animal in the book is Daisy, who is a rubber duck that she takes into the both tub.  The only way I could do Daisy was to get a small rubber duck which I found on Amazon..  Now we both have a Daisy Duck.  I got these all put into a box and they are now at the Post Office on their way to CA.  They should arrive by Sept 1.  I can’t wait for them to see all the toys.  I also included Rapunzel, her tower, the prince and the witch for Dyhana.  Then they both have a set to play with.  I have a set of these also here for Gina to use when she comes to visit.

Now I am going to take a little break from the toys as I need to fill my baby box.  I like to keep on hand baby sets and blankets for us to use whenever some friend or relative is expecting.  If I have to stop and make something when a new baby is born it seems like work but if I have a big box full of things, it is just fun.  I have three sweater sets for girls and two blankets but have run out of boy items so am making several sweater sets like this one I just finished. Photo on 8-25-16 at 8.48 AM

I still have the bootees to make and have started the next blue set.  Then I also am working on some blankets for boys like this one I just finished. Photo on 8-25-16 at 8.48 AM #2

This is folded into quarters for the picture.  I didn’t have any blue for the joining round so used this nice tan silk/nylon yarn Shirley sent me.  It is very soft and nice and costs $19.50 a skein.  She got it from a friend – I could never pay that much for any yarn so was glad to find a good use for it.  It takes two skeins for each blanket so I am sure who ever I give it to will not mind it is not all blue.  I could even use it for a girl if I needed to.  Then at night when I am tired and almost ready for bed I am making dish clothes for everyone for Christmas as I had the good luck to get the right cotton yarn at just a dollar a skein and that I could afford.  Yarn has gotten so expensive I am so thankful when Shirley’s friends pass on spare yarn to me.  I can always find a use for a spare skein of yarn.  When I get these done I will get back to kitting, crocheting and sewing more animals.  I have a new book coming this week for finger puppets to sew.  I have a book of crocheted finger puppets so that opens up a whole new world of toys.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

That is so wonderful, Mom! I can’t wait to see her use it – which will be every night.

    • Thanks, I also hope Dyhana has the Rapunzle story I tried to copy mine but had no luck and since that was the one she wanted I had to assume she has the story or knows it anyways. Patty is going back to New Hampshire this weekend. She got a text yesterday from Elaine who told her not to wait until the end of Sept. to come up to see PHIL because she didn’t think he would be there then and sure he would not be able to visit. One kidney has failed, remember he had tubes put into each kidney so now he has just the one with a tube. And he can’t walk any longer so is in a wheel chair, he can’t eat solid food and is on morphine all the time. Not on the morphine drip yet but they expect that to be the next step. She will go up on Friday and back on either Sunday or Monday. She just wants to see him once more while he is still alert. We also have a storm aimed right at us for Sunday or Monday so she will take that into consideration when making her plans for returning. Love you Mom
