A Few New Additions

James came over this week and wanted me to read a story to him.  We had a lot of fun.  I read The Three Little Pigs.  Patty played the wolf and James was the three pigs. He did such a good job and enjoyed it so much.  Then he wanted another story.  He doesn’t talk but let me know he wanted to use the tigers so I read Little Black Sambo.  Patty was the mother and father at first but when Sambo went out into the forest for his walk James made Patty take over Sambo so he could be the tigers.  I forgot there were four tigers so we had to pretend we had all four.  James loved the fight the tiger’s had.  I thought that would be enough for any little boy but no he insisted we do the Three Little Kittens.  He remembered that from the first time he came with Colby and Gina, so I read one more.  Patty was the mother cat and James played all three little kittens.  I think he liked the hanging the mittens up to dry the best.  Then he was ready to go home with a big grin and happy.  He still did not speak but he signed to me.

This week I finished the cats for Dyhanna.  She is illustrating the story of The Rainbow Kitten and I promised to send her a cat for it.  She also wanted a fur cat so I got that done also.  Good thing I send both- I forgot she had a little sister who would want to have a cat too so Prem got the Rainbow cat and Dyhanna got the fur cat.  The fur cat is tender and any rough play would split her open.  Thank goodness Dyhanna is such a sweet child otherwise there would have been real trouble.
unnamedDyhanna let Prem know that the Rainbow Cat was hers but also let Prem claim it for the day.  It is not every little girl who would be so nice to her little sister.  Now I have to make Rapunzel and the others in the story for Dyhanna and when they tell me Prem’s favorite story I’ll make those too and send them both at the same time.  Next time I’ll remember!!Photo on 6-17-16 at 11.55 AM

Here is my Kaola bear to add to the Swagman story.  I still have about half a dozen more animals to do but I am getting there with this story. Photo on 6-17-16 at 12.00 PM

I have put all the ones from the Swagman story into the corner with the swagman.  You can see there are lots for toys to go with that book but it is a long book so it needs lots of toys.  Here are a couple more I just added. Photo on 6-17-16 at 11.58 AM

I have cut out the giraffe and some of the other animals.  There are lots of animals for this book as all the African animals come to watch him dance.  This is the online story I got.  I just could not resist this story as Gina loves giraffes.  Have a great day. I am late getting my dinner going.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

Those animals are just too cute! Maybe they will help James with words. He will have happy thoughts to help him sleep!
Today was summer and we had a warm day. Yesterday in the morning John had one potato plant up and last evening there were 47. He didn’t count them today. We had such a cold damp spring but things are still very dry. Making all those animals is like planting lovely stories for the children.

    • Hi Rosemary, I thank you and I do think you are right. He (James) sang Old Mac Donald Had a Farm with us this week. Patty brought all three of them together this week and that was wild. Colby, the other twin would not come without his mother so we had three adults also. James remembered what to do and tried so hard to follow the rules but Gina thought she was special so didn’t want to sit and listen to the story and Colby just would not join in but had so sit on his mother’s lap and she had to tell him how to join in. That confused James a lot and he got very confused so I stopped before finishing the Story of Peter Rabbit and we had an ice cream party. Again James was the only one that would follow the rules so as soon as the ice cream was gone they went home. Next time all three come I will set down the rules and tell Gina she is the big girl and must follow the rules or we will not have a story. James will come alone this next week and see if that gets the message to Gina.
