I have done nothing but sew all week and still have many more lined up to work on. I keep three or four dolls in progress all the time but decided it was time to get some pictures to show you what I have finished.
This is Tom. He comes from the story “The Polka Dots and the Jolly Swagman” It is about Tom’s adventure one summer when he and his whole extended family spend their vacation in the Outback at the Camel Races. I still have several more animals to make for this story but I am getting there.
This is the spirit dog of Kadaitcha, who is the native of Australia the boys met on their adventure. He is all black with red eyes that glow in the dark.
This is Duck, the native boy who was their guide on the adventure and the Chinese shop keep who gave Tom the cursed stone that caused all kinds of strange things to happen.
This is Duck’s spirit animal that he names Goldy because of the golden spots on his back. He is goanna, a native of Australia. Each boy had to catch and tame an animal in order to get back home.
This is Squawk, a galah. He is the spirit animal of the Swagman. Of course in the story all of these animals are giants so that the people could ride on them.
There are several more animals for the Swagman story but I do work on other stories at the same time and this one is Briar Rabbit. He is in the Story of Briar Rabbit and the Tar Baby. I finally figured out how to make the tar baby and how to get Briar Rabbit to stick to him. I still have to make Briar Fox and the tar baby.
As you may remember I made the three pigs for the story of the three little pigs, but when I got my new book I found different little pigs that I like better so I had to make them along with the wolf to blow their house down.
These are Floppsy, Moppsy, Cottontail and Peter form “The Story of Peter Rabbit” I will use Briar Rabbit for the mother rabbit and I need to make a blue jacket for Peter before I read that story to the kids.
Patty has been teaching the kids “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” They like the song and can sing it so she will bring them over here to show me how they sing the song and we will use the animals I have made to help us all remember the order of the animals in our song. Each one will lead a verse and pick an animal on the shelf to line up for the song. That should be fun!! I am still working on a brown furry cat for Dyhanna. She is drawing the pictures for The Rainbow Kitten and I am making her a cat to go with the story. When I finish the can I need to make the bows, ribbons, shawls etc for all the colors she has in her pictures. I also have a dingo cut out for the Swagman story, and a Koala for the same story. I also have an elephant cut out just because I want one. My mother made a grey elephant for my brother when he was born 86 years. I played with it when I was little and one of my girls have it now, but I don’t remember which one took it. It may be in pieces now. I know my mother put a big patch on it when my sister was little and I had to patch it again when my girls played with it so I decided that was one of the animals I had to have even if I didn’t have a story for it.
Time to get back to sewing. Have a great day.
