More Animals

Nothing new here.  I finished my goose. Photo on 5-18-16 at 3.45 PM

I have a boo of all birds but there wasn’t a goose so I used a swan as a pattern to do most of it.  None of theses birds are designed to stand up they are made to be played with and carried around by children.  So he doesn’t stand alone very well.Photo on 5-18-16 at 3.43 PM

He did pass the first step anyways.  Patty came last night for a visit and she knew he was a goose so I guess the kids will like him.  I also finished the wedding cake and that came out good. Photo on 5-18-16 at 3.46 PM

Miss Mousie looked it over and passed it for the wedding. Photo on 5-18-16 at 3.47 PM

Of course in the song it isn’t Miss Mousie that gets to eat the cake.  A big black snake comes in and eats it all up.  I still have to make the snake.  In fact I need to make two of them, a black one for this song and one called Rainey for the Swagman.  He is a nightly colored very big snake for that story.

Last night I finished the cow.  Photo on 5-19-16 at 9.42 AM

Or I should say almost finished the cow I still have to add the tail.  She at least looks like a cow except she has no udder and I am not going to try to put one on.  I had to use a Yak pattern for this one and with a few changes I think it came out alright.  This morning I am working on the hermit for the Swagman story and all he needs is a mustache so I’ll show you him later today.  This morning we had to go down to BJ’s to get a roast to cook and slice for Patty.  She and Becca are taking the kids all camping next week so needs sandwich  material.  I will make the buns tomorrow and cook them Saturday.  They leave Sunday and will be gone a week.  The forecast is for nice weather in Jacksonville so I hope they are right.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

I just called John here to look at your cow! That is cute!! Norman must think he is at the zoo. It must be a great way to spend your spare time! I think they are just lovely!

    • Norman says I should have put the horns on the cow but then without the udder it would be a bull. Now I am cutting out the pigs. I need three for the story of the three little pigs. The little red hen also has a pig in the story so they will do double work. Then I want to cut out three rabbits, Floppsy, Moppsy, Cotton Tail and Peter for the story of Peter Rabbit. For each one I do I find three more I want to do. Norman says he will have to build me a shelf all around the living room to put out all the animals. He likes my making them as it keeps me off his back and I am not finding jobs for him to do.
Nancy called today but between these two old ladies and the new cell phones we had trouble talking. Twice I could hear her but she could not hear me so she hung up and called me back, finally we just said good bye. I told her to email me instead but she hates to write so I no double will not hear from her again for a couple weeks. She knows what I am doing as she follows my blog and once in a while she comments there.
