Back Again

Sorry for the long silence.  I got sick and then dehydrated so spent Friday in the hospital.  They got my temperature down, my body water up and my pressure and blood oxogen level back to normal and today I feel normal again.  I can walk with out help and can keep my mind functioning correctly, so all is well.  I just finished entering my story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears so if you haven’t been over to that page do stop over soon.  Look at the top of this page and see the list of pages, click on “Dolls and Animals of story and song”  I manages to get a mouse made for Regina before I got too confused so he can make his debut here.  I don’t have mine finished yet but will finish him this next week for the song, “Froggy Goes Acourting”  An old song by Tex Ridder one of my favorite and one my grand children all loved. He is really a vole but a vole is nothing but a wild mouse so Gina loved him for her story.  Maybe one day she will read her story to me, I hope so but  if not I just hope she will save the story and some day I’ll get to read it.

Have a great day, I must get back to my Little Black Sambo doll.  I always loved this story and could never understand how the tigers got in the south to chase him, then This year I found out Black Sambo was not a boy of the south, he was boy from India and was not intended to be a racial slur of any kind but a fairly well to do family in India.  Then the tigers made sense so I can intrude little Black Sambo to my great grand kids with out feeling I am adding to  the sin of bigotry   .

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

Carol, i am sorry you have been sick. You better take it easy for awhile. I hope Norman is a good nurse.

    • Thank you, Norman is a good nurse, thank God. I am still under the weather so do not do much around the house and Norman does it all for us. Thursday my brother -in-law arrives from New Hampshire. He has cancer and had an operation that took his whole stomach but still did not get the whole thing so it is just a matter of time before he can no longer do for himself. He decided to come to Florida to say good bye to all his friends and relatives that live here. He will stay here with us for two nights then he has a condo rented out at the ocean where he will entertain any and all friends and relatives that wish to see him. So far he is feeling good so hopes to really enjoy this last trip down. He makes me realize how lucky I am, time is all I need to get my strength back so I have to stop complaining. Also I have Norman to help me and Phil is a retired priest, 7 years younger than Norman and no family. Patty has gone up to New Hampshire and helped him when he was in the hospital and when he was recouping. She is as close to a daughter as you can get. As the old aging goes “I complained because I had no shoes until I met a man who had so feet.” We don’t have to look very far to see we are really pretty well off.
