Up And On Into the Future!

Thanksgiving is done but the turkey lingers on.  We have decided from now on we focus only on the future.  We have ten wonderful great grand kids and they are the future.  One graduated from High School this year and is starting out on a bright future and that is where our focus should be.  Watching this next generation grow and prosper will help us stay happy and healthy.  The past has been great but it can not help us keep going so from now on look out kids we are watching you and following  you into the future.

The future starts today so we said good bye to Thanksgiving and started setting up for Christmas.  We got down from the attic all our Christmas decoration and with the new theme in mind I set up all that would fit into our smaller house and will sell at White City all that will not fit and is still worth more than a buck.  All else will go the way of the wind. Photo on 11-29-15 at 5.35 AM

Our tree is small so many of the decorations don;t fit anymore and the new ones will go to White City.  I gave the large old ones that we have used for generation to my daughter and grand daughter last year so have only a very few to toss out.  There are some that were too heavy for this tree and yet I still won’t to use them so they form their own village around the bottom of the tree.Photo on 11-29-15 at 5.35 AM #2

Many of these are from several years ago, such as  Tweetyy Bird 1978 so they help to hid the stand and make the tree look less like a long legged crane.  Photo on 11-29-15 at 5.34 AM #2

My big Santa’s that used to fit on my 6 foot tree no longer fit this tree so I now decorate my book shelf with those. Photo on 11-29-15 at 5.34 AM

Shirley made me this Santa and his rein deer years ago and I do like that so he sits on my book shelf also but there is not enough space for all the deer so Santa has to fly with only 7 deer this year and that is just as well anyway as one deer got a broken leg last year.

I gave away my large nativity set last year and kept the smaller one that Shirley made for me and that fits just right on top of the book case.Photo on 11-29-15 at 9.37 AM

and with that Christmas is complete.  There is no more room for past memories.

I have almost finished Dyhana’s sweater and with that all my knitting is done and wrapped for Christmas so I can get those into the mail the first week in Dec and avoid the last minute mailing rush.  Now I am working on the Christmas card.  This is the only time I hear from many of our friends and do wish to take all into the future with us, so I’ll get those done this next week or two.  Photo on 11-29-15 at 9.44 AM

This is our card this year.  Before we always used a picture of the past Christmas but since this year we are looking to the future, not the past we decided to use the pictures of our great grand children- our future!  I am also sending a key so everyone will know their names and who they belong to.  Whose child they are and whose grandchild.  Boy it seem funny to think that my babies are now all grand parents and as you can see it won’t be too many years in the future before these blessings will also be parents and we intend to be here to record them also.

Vista Print was so good at setting up this card for us and it didn’t cost anymore than doing it our selves in Walmart.  I just wish I had been able to get all current pictures but we were in the middle of moving when I had to come up with a picture of each child and I couldn’t find where I had put many of the picture.  Any ways they are all beautiful and I love the card and I hope everyone else does too.  Have a wonderful day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
