Again a whole week has gotten away from me. I will try to catch you up on what has happened, which is not much. The sales at White City are really picking up now. I even made a profit in September. I made the cost of my space and the 10% commission I pay on all sales plus the cost of allowing people to pay with a credit card and had a check for me, which is more than I had hoped for. All I put into White City is things I have carried around for years and years and now have no room for, so when someone else can find a use for it I am happy. I don’t charge very much for it but it is better than just giving it away which I did before when I moved from a large place to a small one. This Sunday is the big Fall sale at White City so everything in the place is 10 to 20% off so we are all stuffing as much as we can fit into our space in hopes of lots of sales. This marks the beginning of the season here in Florida.
Regina has been coming every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We do her home work and then play either with the doll house or color. This week we added a new activity, she wrote a letter to her cousin in CA on Monday and her Aunt Shirley in Jacksonville on Wednesday. She doesn’t write a very long letter but does a good job for a 6 year old. She has no idea that she will get a letter in return and can’t conceive of the fun that she will have when she gets a letter with her address on it. I am sure when that happens she will be ready to write a longer letter in return and what a good way for her to practice writing.
I am still working on the slipper socks for the family and the sweaters for the youngest great grand chidden. I have just four more people to make socks for but several sweaters still to do. I have Colby’s and James’s done and am now working on Regina’s. She loves to watch it grow so I have sent for a loom to make pot holders. How many remember those? I made my first one at camp and then my father made me a loom and that was my first craft item. I want to teach Regina to make them so she can make a pot holder for everyone for Christmas. I am also working on a bear. Shirley gave me some fur from an old fur coat and I am using the pattern for a Scalleywag to make a bear. It is coming out to look more like a Yeti than a bear but either way it is cute and Regina loves it.
This is the head. One ear is lower than the other and he still needs a nose but he is cute. I am now working on his body and legs. When I get those on I’ll send you another picture of him. Have a great day.
