Did you all remember to go out last night and view the luna eclipse? We were just ready to go to bed at 10 pm and Norman said, “Hey, there is to be an eclipse at 10. I wonder if the clouds have left so we can see it? Let’s take a look before we go to bed.” So we did and got there just in time to see the total eclipse. The sky was clear but we have so many lights on the street and in this neighborhood that we could not see any stars but we could see the moon or I should say the sliver of the moon that was left. Norman ran for his binoculars and I got my lap top to try and get some pictures. There was a sliver of moon still showing with a halo around that. The moon showed up on my pictures but the halo did not as that did not give off enough light to be recorded on my lap top. I do think you will like the pictures so I’ll put them all here and I will use them to teach Gina about a luna eclipse.
10:04 Just a sliver of a moon showing, there was a halo also that was not bright enough to catch.
10:05 Still just a sliver with a little red in the sliver. You could see most of the outline of the moon but again not enough light to catch on the camera.
10:06 I think you can see some of the red at the top of this shot and the light is getting more concentrated in the sliver so it shows up better on this shot.
10:07 We were sitting on the chairs on our front patio, I had to take the pictures of the moon over my shoulder and on this one I got my face in the picture by mistake so the camera focused on my face instead of on the moon so the moon looks smaller but gives a good idea of how small it was by then and also gives an idea of the color but still no halo.
10:08 Still getting smaller and this one really shows the color.
By 10:09 it was little more than a dot in the sky with a halo on that one side of the moon.
10: 10 and it is even harder to see any sliver of moon left.
By 10:12 there was no moon left. There was a little light around the moon but not enough to catch on this camera. We then went to bed but of course I had trouble going to sleep so at 11 I got up and went out to see what was happening and the light was then coming out the bottom and left side of the moon and it was very red. I think they call that a blood moon but I could not stay and watch anymore as Norman was asleep and if I am not there it wakes him up and he would not be a happy camper if I woke him up at this hour. Now I must run and see the replay of the eclipse on the weather channel. Hope you see it there if you missed it last night. They say it was a super moon as well as an eclipse, what ever that is. Have a great day
Just watched the weather channel and found the super moon is the blood moon I spoke of and it does not happen again the have a super moon and an eclipse until 2033 so I am glad I got to see some of it as I can’t promise to be around for the next one. They also said the west coast of Florida got to see the whole thing but that the east coast was clouded in so missed it, so I guess I was doubly blessed as the clouds left this area on the east coast so I got to see it. Lucky again.
We had a perfect view of the eclipse and the blood red color. Being a full moon it seemed very close and just an amazing show!!!! I too felt very fortunate to witness it so clearly!!!! Wonder how it will look to us when it happens next time……from where we will be viewing it???? Another adventure to look forward to.
Enjoy those study sessions with the ” little one “.

Gina was here yesterday and we had a good session. She still can’t see any point to doing home work but with some pushing got her spelling words all written into sentences. She loves using the ! and knows how to say the sentence so that she can use it so she is learning, She also read her “Look and See” book for me without any help. That is a book I wrote for her with pictures of her and Luke when they were both little and spent one week together in TN. They got to met again this year when he was here for a month with his mother and brother just before we can down so she enjoyed reading the booklet as she had forgotten she knew him. Now we will go on to a Dick and Jane book. Those are still the best books to teach reading with. The new books don’t repeat the words enough and are mostly sight reading which has never worked. She was here for three hours so got about an hour and a half to play with the doll furniture I put together for her. She will be back Wednesday and Norman hopes to have the house ready for her to play with even if it isn’t completely finished. Wednesday is an early release day so she will get here about 1:30 so we can get an early start and then her mother will pick her up earlier too which is better for me as I do get tired later in the day.
Today I go back over to White City. It is required that you come in at least once a week to rearrange your space, clean it up and add anything new that you have to sell so that people will want to came back often to see what else you have. I like to rotate things that seem to sell and remove things that have been there for some time. I’ll put them back later when the season get under way. So far I am doing alright over there and making my rent anyways. It costs me $23 a month plus 10% commission on everything I do sell and there are not many that do that this time of year. Next month the season begins and by Dec. things should really pick up. Only two more days this month and I have just about made expenses so any that I sold this week is profit, hope I sold some. Right now the Old Farmer’s Almanacs seem to be going well, at least the old ones. I have many from 1803 to 2006. I collected them to use for my books about Web that I was writing and I have saved those that match the years I have his diaries and am selling the rest. I have had to weed out a lot of my STUFF as I don’t have as much room here as I had in TN and I can’t see any point in keeping a lot of STUFF in the attic for someone else to have to sort through sometime in the further.
Have a good time at school. I wish I could go for my doctorate in education, I’d love to develop a good math course for elementary schools but I just don’t have the time. I did one for the deaf 50 years ago that was used in three school and I started one for the public schools once 20 years ago but found time difficult then too so will have to settle for tutoring instead.
