The Desk Arrived!

The big day finally arrived and the desk was delivered at 2p.m.  It is so beautiful!!Photo on 8-22-15 at 12.57 PM

Isn’t t perfect.  It is not too big and it is a roll top and a nice looking piece of furniture as well and all I wanted in a desk.  Now we have a place where we can put all our bills to pay or that we have paid for the month.  All of these will go in the first draw and others that are finished but we need to keep for tax records will go in the bottom draw.  My letter writing and records that I need to keep will be in the second draw and the inside of the desk will be our banking etc so now we don’t have to go hunting in my draws or Norman’s little desk or his bond box.  We will know right where everything is.  At our ages we spend most of our time looking for something we put away in a safe place but forget where that place is.  All my projects we be in my craft room/guest room and Norman’s will be in his work shop/garage.  Now we can enjoy each day and not spend half of it looking for what we need to do that day.  The roll top has a key also so we can lock it up if we so desire.Photo on 8-22-15 at 1.01 PM

This shows you the three draws.  All are real draws not just fake fronts like so many I have seen and I have my pidgin holes that I so wanted.  Photo on 8-22-15 at 1.00 PM #2

Isn’t it just perfect?  And so heavy too.  It is a wonderful piece of furniture.  The only scratch on the thing, that I could find is a small line on the pull out writing table.  I think you can see it on the left hand side.  I know it is there so of course I see it but it isn’t really very noticeable.  Photo on 8-22-15 at 12.58 PM

Just another picture of it open.  The next thing we had to do was get a chair to fit the desk so we could sit at it to work and I found the accent chair fit it just right and was very comfortable to use.  I could write all day with that chair.Photo on 8-22-15 at 1.00 PM

I look like the cat that swallowed the canary, don’t I.  I feel like that too.  I had no hope of getting this area furnished the way I wanted to but I did it and within my budget too.  I am truly pleased and happy.  I also am happy I lost almost ten pounds so my not eating in-between meals and cutting down on sweets is really paying off so everything is working out great for me.  Have a good day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
