Getting There

Yesterday we went to the Mall to fix Norman’s iPad so he could use it was before or buy a new one.  We found a wonderful place in the Mall, The Connection.  They don’t sell iPads but they fix anything.  He said he never saw an original iPad in such a good condition.  He said there was nothing wrong with it.  Either we had the wrong IP address or something was wrong at home with our WiFi.  He connected it in his store with his Wifi and he could go anywhere on the internet.  So when we got home we looked again at the WiFi and found I had miss read the password. I put an S in where it should have been a 5.  Now I have some other places like the cloud that I still need to change the address and email but at least Norman can get his Time magazine.  Then we got our new recliners for the living room at Asley Furniture.  They were very good and helpful, we got exactly what we wanted.  Photo on 8-16-15 at 12.25 PM

This is the double recliners we got.  Isn’t it pretty?  Right now it is too close to the TV because we still have the big sleep sofa behind it.  We hope the neighbors would be able to use it and if not we will call the Salvation Army to come and get it along with Norman’s big recliner from before.  Patty took mine because it was a little smaller and would fit in her room.   Patty also brought over her round dinning room table that matches the four captains’s chairs we have and she took back the drop leaf table that we had here in our dinning room.  She will keep the drop leaf table and I will put the round table and four chairs in White City and see if I can sell that set.  It should sell well as it is a nice looking set and we will not be asking much for it.Photo on 8-16-15 at 12.25 PM #2

This is the two book cases and TV stand we got.  Now I need to put my books awat

This morning I emptied two boxes into the kitchen and pantry, and put away all the spices I saved.  I hope that finishes up the area as there is very little room left there.  Then I finished putting away and putting in order all the the diaries from Web, my father, Auntie, my mother and myself.  And then I started putting books away.  I got two boxes done when I had to stop for lunch and now it is time to get back to work.  When I get the living room all sorted out I’ll send a new picture.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

I love your new furniture! Just beautiful and so cozy!

    • Thank you, We are having a fun time looking for and getting the new pieces. We do have a few more pieces before we are done. I just ordered you birthday nuts. I see they are coming in three different packages so count them when they come, there should be 8 different kinds. I hope I remembered correctly. Happy Birthday Love you Mom and Dad

I just thought of something…. where will Uncle Phil sit when he comes?

    • If he comes he will sit in my recliner and I will sit in one of the gossip chairs with Patty in the other. We haven’t gotten them yet but I will be sure they are comfortable. A gossip chair is an over stuffed chair, small enough for two old ladies to sit and talk privately in comfortably. That will be my end of the room when we have company or when I want to just sit and read or do my math. Uncle Phil has a long way to go before he comes here and right now we are just praying he makes it. His doctor told him if he gets to the stage where he has the operation he still had about a 50/50 chance of making it then. I think his spirits are remarkably good with such a thing to look forward to and he says he has lots of support so that helps too. Love you Mom
