More Boxes Empty

We stayed home today to get more unpacking done.  We got most of the kitchen boxes empty.  That was our focus today. We started this morning organizing the shelves where I keep my large electric cook ware. Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.27 PM

I have more room here which I will use later.  There are five shelves in this unit but I could not get back far enough to show it.  We have a small space here at the end of the garage because we do want to be able to put our new car inside.  Which we will do once we get unpacked. Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.27 PM #4

This is all that still needs to be unpacked and a few others that need to be stored.  We have ordered a pull down ladder to the area over the garage but they have not come yet to see if it can be done here.  Once that is done we will have the garage cleaned up and the car under cover.  The pantry got a face lift also.  It is really a very small space but Norman did such a good job building it, I have all the room I need.  He even added a new shelf today. Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.26 PM #2

The bottom shelf is the new one.  I used to try and do my baking out here on the top shelf but that was in the winter.  Most of the year it is far too hot out here to work so it will be just for my pot, pans and some food.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.26 PM

This shows you the space.  There are five shelves high on each side.  One side has wide shelves the other very narrow for spices and small jars.  I have most of my pots and pans hung on the ends and back of the one wall.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.27 PM #2

These are the wider shelves with the fry pans at the end, there are five of them.Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.26 PM #3

These are the smaller shelves.  I need to organize these better so I have more room for spices.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.29 PM

These are my spices I need to put away.  As you can see I have far more spices than I could ever put on those shelves so as soon as Patty gets home I will set up a date for her to help me and we will go through them and Patty can take any she uses and I will keep the few I really want to use now.  We don’t eat as much as we used to and we don’t need all the sauces anymore either.  So many of these will just have to go!Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.28 PM #2

Also in the garage is the laundry room.  This area is pretty well cleaned out and we can now get to the washer and drier.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.25 PM #2

Back in the kitchen, I love my big chopping block on the counter there.  I will have to remove it when I make bread so I can put my molding board down but that is no trouble.  The kitchen is well organized now and will need very little changing.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.25 PM

The kitchen counter extends into the living room area.  There I took out the large notebooks I had there and have put my radio/record player, it is less cluttered and allows me to listen to my music as I work.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.30 PM

The master bedroom is just about done except for the extra chess of draws that belong to Patty and which she will take when she gets home.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.29 PM #2

On the other hand the guest bedroom/craft room gets buried deeper and deeper until now there is just a narrow aisle down the center.  When all else is done I’ll get this organized and put in order so I can use it.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.30 PM #2

Both bathrooms are all set, this is the master bathroom.  Photo on 8-13-15 at 5.31 PM

And the living room is getting there.  I need my new book cases before I can empty all the boxes so tomorrow we will look to see if we can find what we want.  In the meanwhile there is enough room cleared there to relax at night.  Norman is in his chair and mine is waiting so I think I’ll join him.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
