Two days of rain and wind and now the cooler weather behind the front. This morning it was 41 degrees and tonight it is to be in the 30’s, how low into the 30’s it will be only time will tell. I hope the mountain elevation will protect us from a frost. The peach trees are now setting their fruit, the pear trees are in bloom with the Moon Glow having many and the Barlett only one cluster.
This is the crab apple and as you can see it is in full bloom. We should have a lot to make crab apple jelly this year. The Wine Sap apple tree has several buds and should open soon then we can tell if we will have apples this year for the first time. I don’t see any on the Golden Delicious and the cherry tree has some but we have only one tree so don’t get any cherries.
There are not many but they are pretty anyways. I still have some weeding to do in the hosta bed. The violets are coming up fast now. Usually I would say violets are pretty but in my flower gardens they chock out the other flowers. I once had a strawberry bed but the violets killed all the strawberries. Now I let the violets grow only in the grove on driveway.
These are a cluster just outside the tower boxes. They are pretty but you can see they are very invasive, these are growing in the rocks of the driveway.
Tomorrow is Easter and Joe and family are coming up and I am all ready with the Easter Bunny for the Easter egg hunt. It is also Laura’s birthday so I made a big Boston cream pie for her for her birthday cake. Have a Happy Easter everyone!!
