Time Goes Too Fast

The Christmas season is just about gone.  We had a wonderful Christmas with Patty and her whole family and Tom and his family.  Then on Dec. 31 Celina and her son came for a Christmas visit.  They have not been here for about ten years so everyone was excited to see them.  We could not entertain them as we get too tired to keep up with the young people and we didn’t want them to just sit around as we do so everyone else kept them on the move.  Today is their last day here.  The first day they went with Patty and had supper with Patty’s family and then baby sat the three little ones while their parents went out for New Years Eve.  Celina and Alec come back here as they were tired from the trip down.  They had been delayed over three hours in CT before taking off.  They called the hotel they had reservations for and told them they would be late getting in because of the delay in the flight but when they got to the hotel at 3 a.m. they found their room had been given away and the one they had to stay in was not fit for use as the rugs were wet and things didn’t work but they were so tired they took the free room and got a few hours of sleep before coming down here at noon.  So needless to say they were not interested in watching the New Year come in and we all went to bed before ten.  Thursday, Celina’s brother Tom called and took they bowling with his boys.  They had a wonderful time getting to visit again as they had not seen each other for quite a few years also.  Then came back here for a light supper and bed.  Friday Patty took them kayaking down the St Lucie River so they were up and out by 7:30 a.m.  They spent the whole day on the river and returned here with Patty for supper and an evening of visiting.  Saturday they spent the morning here at the house as Celina had some work that needed to be done and then after dinner they went to the beach with Patty.  Alec had a great time using Patty’s boogy board in the ocean and the girls enjoyed the sun and sand for the afternoon.  They came back for a light supper and another evening of TV and visiting.  Celina spent some time getting her interviews organized as she has four big interviews to do when she gets back home.  Today is their last day so Celina and Alec have gone to the river walk to see the wild life in the preserve on the St Lucie River and then will go over to Tom’s house and help get the dinner set up.  Tom and Roxanne are having the family over for a cook out to end the Christmas Season.  We will meet them there about 2 this afternoon.  We are looking forward to seeing all the work Tom has done on his new house, I understand he has done a lot of work on that and I know it was a beautiful house before so can’t wait to see what he could have done to change it!!    Tomorrow morning we will get up early and get Celina and Alec packed and on the road by 5:30 or 5:45 so they can be at Universal Studios by 8 a.m. to meet an old class mate of hers.  He is an engineer at the Studios and has been for a long time so will take them around and let them enjoy a day in the park before flying out on Tuesday for home.  It will be a wonderful ending to a very busy and happy trip.    We will settle back into a quiet slow life and just enjoy the wonderful memories we have collected this Christmas season.   And get rested up for the next visit.  Shanti and her family are coming in Feb and Joe and his family hope to come some time before that so we will be kept quite busy before going  back home to plant.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
