Last week we got the weather report of a big storm heading for us so we could not wait for the week end to come to Flordia so we went to Athens on Sunday to say good-bye to Joe and his family. Monday we packed the truck and Tuesday morning bright and early we headed south. We had perfect weather to travel and we managed to stay ahead of the cold front the whole way. We stopped in Tifton, Ga Tuesday night and pulled out early in the morning on Wednesday. We arrived in Port St Lucie about noon and called the family to let them know we were in town. Patty ran in for a minute after work but couldn’t stay long as she had a work related meeting that evening. Thursday we went to Comcast and got our WiFi box, then came home and hooked that up and called to get it activated. After dinner we went to Nelson’s Farm Market to get the fresh vegetables and went home. Patty came after work and stayed for supper and we had a wonderful visit. Friday we went to BJ’s to get the meat and a few staples for the kitchen and after dinner we went to Walmart and finished up our shopping and went home and finished unpacking. Saturday morning after we sorted the canned goods we brought down into four piles we took Becca’s over to her house and left them with Chris and we got to see the kids and play with them for a while. I took the dresses I had made over to Gina and gave the boys their shirts and shorts I made for them. By afternoon and a call to Joe and Shirley we were ready to relax all settled in and unpacked. Sunday we all got together at Patty’s for dinner and had a great time, just like old times and the kids were so much fun. They have grown up so much! Today we went down to the Bank and got our banking done now we are truly done and ready to just settle in for a nice relaxing winter.
Have a great day!!
About Carol (Ouma) Petts
I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
I missed you! We got the snow from that strom and now it has rained away. Relax in that Florida sun and enjoy yourselves!
Thank you, Rosemary. I plan to get back to blogging every day but there will not be anything very interesting from here . I do hope to get a writing club started here in the village. There are a lot of retired people here in Village Green Villas so maybe there are others that like to write and would be willing to get together and help each other. Hope you are well and getting some rest now that the gardens are done.
So glad you made it with no stress and no problems! Have a great winter and give a big hug to the family. Hope we get to see you this winter. Much love, Shanti
Thank you, Shanti, I hope now that we are settled in I can find the time each day to blog again. The blog is the only way I have of telling most family and friends what is happening. The email for the last ten days is lost forever. When we put the cable and wifi on summer rates they also closed the email. They never did that before so it closed on the 13th and we didn’t discover it until the Friday but when we called to have it turned on we had to wait until Monday as the workers don’t work on the week ends for that type of thing. So all the mail from the 13th through the 17 is floating out thee in never-never land. Oh, well we don’t get much email anyways, except ads and those will come again anyways. I do hope to see you this winter so will pray everything goes well for you so you can come. Love Mom
