Happy News

It has been some time since I updated you.  I have run around in circles doing nothing much.  I talked with Joe and he is moving back to TN with his family.  He will be here a week from today.  I have been finishing up the Petts family tree back to the beginning an gotten that done and have now started the Thayer family line.  I think I have it traced back to 350BC and now have to check it, get all the documents I can find and write it down.  I have trouble sticking to one job for long, I do get antsy when I am waiting for something great to happen.  I have also been sewing and getting these outfits done.Photo on 10-3-14 at 6.58 AM

This is the shirt and pants I finished for the twins, I got two sets just alike and am very pleased with how they came out.  I have Dyhana’s jumper done and as soon as I finish the blouse that goes with it I’ll take a picture for you.  I should have Prem’s  jumper and blouse should be done at the same time.  This week we went down to Joe’s house and made sure it was ready for Joe.  We found one toilet needed a part, the light in Landen’s closet needed fixing and there were some bees building a nest under the siding so Norman got the things he needed to fix these and today we went back down and he took care of all three things while I made sure everything was clean and ready.  Now we wait the last week – can’t wait to see the family.

Time to pick green beans again but tomorrow is Sunday so I guess we can wait one more day and then we will get green beans again and peppers.  It is getting cold now so maybe in a few more days we can try the parsnips and the sweet potatoes.  That is the nicest part of living on a farm, I love fresh vegetable from the garden and there always seems to be one more to pick.

Rosemary, I hope you are feeling better.  Have you tried the cherries?  I have had trouble with mouth cankers all my life and have finally found something to cure them.  Sauerkraut!!  You just put some on the canker and hold it there until you have to chew it up and eat it.  Do that a couple times a day and  in two days it is gone.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
