3 O’clock and All DONE

Just took the juice out of the canner.  I got 8 pints and one quart of juice concentrate.  This makes 20 quarts of juice for breakfast.  I also have 5 quarts of unsweetened juice to make jelly with in the refrigerator.  I will make the jelly as I have time.  I turned out to be a long day and at about 2 we were both very tired I had jarred the juice for jelly and had the covers on all except one pint which I left on the table and went to do something else.  Norman was cleaning up the mess, he was cleaning and putting away the press and all the part to it when I heard the crash.  Instead of walking around the table and carrying the big heavy base of the press to the sink he reached across the table and lifted it up over the mess I had left on the table, the foot of the cast iron base had hit the pint jar of juice and it hit the floor with a bang and spilled all out.  The jar didn’t hit the floor but the juice did.  Of course Norman was mad at himself but as I told him, when you are tired things are bound to go wrong and if he got mad at himself and worried about it something else  will happen so we both took a deep breath and went on cleaning up.  We got over the clean up and got the juice all canned and bottled and will wait for a day or two to make the jelly.  Dyhana's blue jersey and shrug

This is a sheer jersey and a shrug for Dyhana.  It has sequins all over it and I think she will like this.  My sister, Shirley found this clothe at Joanne’s and she got it for Dyhana.  Dyhana's hip hugger skirt and top

This is another piece of clothe that Shirley got for Dyhana.  It is a sequined piece of stretch material.  This is a sleeveless top and a hip-hugger skirt to match.  Can’t say I like sewing with this material but the new patterns all call for knit material.Photo on 8-3-14 at 6.00 AM

This dress is made of cotton with brocade ruffle and shrug.  I think it is much prettier in person than it does in the picture.Gina's school dress 1

This is a school dress for Gina, it has a pencil bag to match.  I will get some crayons and other school items for in it.  I have now cut out a dress with this same pattern, one for Gina, Dyhana, and Prem.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

Your sewing is beautiful! There will be some stylish little ladies pleaased with all you make for them!

    • Thank you! I love sewing, it is so relaxing doing the small dresses. I used to sew Barbie Doll clothes for sale on ebay and then went to Briar Berry Bears and American Doll clothes and had quite a business with them going to craft fairs and selling on ebay but when we moved to GA and enlarged the gardens and started canning for the family I had no time to do the doll clothes. I had only great grand sons at that time so now I have three great grand daughters it is nice to get back to the little girl clothes. I still do Briar Berry Bear dresses to match Gina’s dresses as I gave her one of my Bears, Berry Lynn and she ives to dresses up herself and the bear to match.
