Always one more thing to do!!

We have been here one month already, time goes by so fast I can’t catch up with myself.  When we came down we put our internet server on vacation so we didn’t have to pay full price for the cable, internet and phone.  They said I would not be able to get my email while we were here so I set up an account with g-mail but I never gave that address to any of my friends or businesses and I was getting my email from blomand as usual until today.  Now I know they really meant it.  If anyone wants to email me send it to backyard820@gmail.com.  The only ones that email me anyways is Amazon, Walmart and my blog but just in case anyone else wants to email me now you know how.

Norman went to the eye doctor today and had his cataracts evaluated and the report was good.  He will not have them removed for at least another year.  With only one good eye they don’t want to take a chance until they have to.  The distortion he was having was from the retina and that was corrected with the shot he got three weeks ago.  So he has decided he will not go so long between shots again, he is happy with one every 6 months, as 8 months was just too long.  He use to get that shot in the eye every month for three years so every 6 months isn’t so bad.

The holiday fun begins this week-end.  We are having a cook out at Becca’s house this Sunday.  Phil sent us a box of steaks for Christmas and we will celebrate the holiday with a first class cookout!! Then next week on Wed.  Shirley and Lori are coming down and we will have our Christmas with them, then on the 23rd is Patty’s birthday and a party at Becca’s for a Birthday party, the 24th is our big Christmas Eve party for the whole family and I get to see Tom and his family.  Of course Christmas Day is always fun with being with Becca’s babies for the early morning tree and stocking and visiting with Patty the rest of the day  Then the 27th is Norman’s birthday and a party for him and New Years Eve will be at Patty’s while we three baby sit with the babies while Becca and Chris spend the New Year with friends.  We should have a good time since each adult can take a child and things should run smoothly.  Today we went to Publics and got the Christmas beast-  I was lucky as they had on sale just what I wanted for our Party- I got a crown roast of pork and a standing rib roast of beef.  Both look great!  I will freeze them both for a few days so they will be nice and fresh on the 24th.   Have a great day!

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.
