Spent the morning in the tomatoes.  Norman used the mantis(small tiller) and weeded the rows, then went by hand and got most of the weeds that were too close to the tomatoes to use the tiller on.  I went through and cut the lower branches off the tomatoes, cut out any suckers that did not have buds on them and tied up everyone to the next to the top wire/rope.  The new way of lacing the plants is working great and most of them are tall, straight and strong and loaded with buds, blooms or small tomatoes.  When they reach the top line I will cut them off so they don’t grow over 5 1/2 feet tall.  Then they will put their energy into making nice big tomatoes.  I could only work about two hours because I got into the poison ivy again this year and didn’t realize I had so my face is covered with the oozing blisters and when I get in the sun they really itch and hurt so when the sun got to the tomatoes, my time there was limited.  I only got one row done, tomorrow I will go down at 6 and get one more row done before breakfast and go down after breakfast and get one more done.  then I will have only three more to go!!  We stopped and picked enough green beans for dinner, dug up about ten pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, and the rest of the Georgia sweet onions.  I also got some garlic and a few shallots.  I did lace up the posts for the cucumbers as they are getting tall and starting to set small cucumbers.  We should be eating those next week along with the zucchini.  The berries are still not ripe.  Last year on the 9th of June we picked three quarts of raspberries and two quarts of blueberries but none are ripe yet this year.  The bushes are loaded and they look great but they are not ripe yet.  We knew this year is two to three weeks behind last year because of the cool spring so we are not surprised.
