Snowed in Again !

Yesterday was a nice day so we got out and started weeding the gardens near the house but the ground is so wet it was hard going and we didn’t get much done before the new cold front came through and the rain/sleet drove us in.  By bed time the light rain was still falling and the temperature was still falling.  In the night this turned to snow and by morning when we were supposed to be driving to Murphfreesboro to get a shot in Norman’s eye the ground was covered with a coating of snow and ice.  The schools were all called off in Union, Warren and White counties so we called and told the doctor’s office we were not coming today.  If it was not safe for the bus drivers it sure was not safe for an 82 year old man to drive through two counties.  They agreed and we took the next available appointment which was April 17th.  That will make ten weeks between shots which is the longest he has gone but his eyes are good right now so we hope that will not cause a problem.  I have been working on my family history and Norman is reading, the temperature is still only 27 degrees so the snow and ice is still everywhere – no outside work today.  They say we will warm up into the 60’s by the week end.  I sure hope so.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

You were very wise, not to attempt to go to the Dr. on those slippery roads. We pray that Norman’s eyes will be o.k. til he can get there for his shot. The weather is terrible everywhere. Looking forward to Spring, but don’t know where it is hiding. Have a good day.

    • Nice to hear from you, Joyce. It is still in the 20’s here but they do promise the temperature will go up this week end. I’ll believe it when it happens. I hope this latest storm doesn’t make it all the way up to your house. They are calling it a “Boston Storm” Hope they are right, you don’t need another foot of snow I am sure. We never had any snow when we lived there. We kept waiting of the ski tow to open down the street but we left before the snow came. I see you have had quite a bit this year. Take care are we will all pray for spring. love you Carol
