Cloudy cold day yesterday and it tried to rain most of the day but we got to McMinnville and back before any rain came. We got a few things we need at Walmart and then went to the Valley Seed and Feed to get our seeds and fertilizer. We got a bag of 90% sulphur for the blueberries, a bag of Super Rainbow 13-13-13 for the plants that like nitrogen and a bag of 5-20-20 super for the plants that don’t want a heavy nitrogen such as potatoes, tomatoes, peas etc. We had a bag of 10-10-10 left from last year and two bags of lime and a bail of peat so I guess we are all set for the year with that. Then we got 12 pounds of pontic red potatoes, and 12 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, 1/2 pound Blue Lake bush beans , 1/2 oz Bloomsdale spinach, 1/4 oz Black seeded Simpson lettuce, 1/4 oz butternut squash, 1/4 oz cucumber, 2 packs Detroit Dark Red Beets, 1 package Black Zucchini , 1 pack carrots, and 2 packages Oregon Sugar Pod Peas. I have parsnips and lima beans coming in the mail and of course I forgot the yellow onion sets so will get those next week when we come home from Norman’s eye shot. We plan this year to make our trips to town only every other week instead of every week. The nights are still cold, in the low 30’s which isn’t that much different from 2011 but the days don’t warm up as they did that year. We only get to the low 40’s right now in the day time. I guess it is the cold front and the cloud cover that keeps the day time temperatures down. I still hope to get out today and do some cleaning up in my flower gardens, I just won’t stay out too long at a time. Have a great day.
