July 1912

Left the house early this morning.  We had an appointment in Sparta to have the truck serviced so we would be ready for the trip to Florida next month.  That took until noon so didn’t get any farm work done today.   Stopped into Save Alot on the way home to do the weekly shopping, still not much we need as we are still eating off the garden with one vegetable from the freezer.  We did get a chicken for tomorrow.  I also have to make bread tomorrow as we are all out now.  I’ll make four loaves so I don’t have to make it for a few days then.  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

  1. Yes, CAROL, Mike is still single. I miss his long time girlfriend Lucy and I think he does as well. But…..I hope he doesn’t stay alone too long. Tim does have 2 kids: Asia Le born Oct.24, 1991 and Aidan Quinn born Dec. 27, 1992.
Getting a frost here mornings now and have the heat on. Would love to be thinking ” Florida” myself about now. Recall Mom and all the ” folks ” getting ready for their trip So. Gulfport was a happy place for the N.E. gang. They sure did love their winters!!!!!! Wondeful that they were able to do it for all those many years.
    Carry on….Nancy

    • Hi Nancy, Thank you, I will be working on this family tree for the rest of my life I think! It is turning into a hugh job, good thing I like it. We put off going to Fl as late as we could this year and Shanti made arrangements to come over and drive us down to FL. Now it is getting cold here and we would love to go early but we have left so much to do at the end of our time we could not get it all done early and we sure want to wait for Shanti so we will not leave until just before Thanksgiving. Next year we will not plan ahead we will just go when the weather feels right. We enjoy Florida also and are so glad we got the Villa to go to. Now we can go and visit with the family when ever we want to but don’t have to spend all the time with the kids, it gets too tiring to be with the young people all the time. This year we want to finish putting in new windows. We got one big double window and the sliding doors in the back room replace, now we have the big dinning room bay window and the big windows in our bed room plus a little window in the kitchen and a small one in the back bedroom. I hope we can afford them all. Then we want to redo the two bathrooms and lastly the kitchen. Have a great day Love Carol
