Norman and I burned brush and logs again today. We have all those trees we cut down last fall to burn. Two years ago we gave the wood we cut and split to our neighbor but he had to come up and get it, we were not going to deliver it to his door. Since then he has not wanted it. I don’t know where he goes to get his wood or if someone delivers it to him but with no one wanting free wood we just have to burn it all in the burn barrels. Mr Bigsby says the same thing about his stable manure. He gives it away free to anyone who will come and get it. He loads it onto your truck for you but you have to drive it home and unload it. We are the only ones he can find that would come for it. We have taken it for three years now and our gardens are beautiful because of it. We have just one more load to get tomorrow then his piles are all gone and there will be no more as he no longer wants to board horses. We really don’t need anymore. We have a big pile that we will use this fall and next spring, then we can use 10-10-10 or Super Rainbow to side dress. The soil is rich enough now and we have no intentions of enlarging any of the gardens. I don’t understand how people can be so lazy when things are offered to you for free and it helps them to get rid of it. Oh, well it is their lose. I picked green beans again today and got enough for the next three days for dinner plus some to freeze. Tomorrow we go for the manure and then I need to fry some green tomatoes to freeze. Have a great day.
