So Tired!

Very tired tonight so this will be short.  I picked peaches this morning, took 33 of them, then we canned those after dinner.  We got 10 pints.  Then we burned all the paper and boxes and will go to the dump Monday with things that can not be burned or composted.  Then just before I came in to make dinner I weeded the green beans.  After we did the tomatoes we watched a movie, took a show, and had supper.  Now I am ready to go to sleep but it is only 7 so it is too early for that so will no doubt take a short nap. Tomorrow is house cleaning day and letter writing so that is a nice easy day and after dinner we will can more peaches.  The peaches are so nice this year.  I am glad we got the secret to growing beautiful peaches!  Have a great day.

About Carol (Ouma) Petts

I am a retired teacher. I have taught all levels from kindergarten through college and have been retired now for over 20 years. The last ten years we have lived on a farm and lived off the land, growing our own food and canning for our extended family. Now we have sold the farm and are moving to Florida to truly retire. I guess I have always had a short attention span as this is our 11th move. We have moved from a small farm in New Hampshire, to more city type living, small business adventures, focusing more on traveling, Florida living, Georgia, and Tennessee farming and now back to Florida. My blog is a way to keep my children up to date on what I am doing and letting them know I am still alive and well. My children are spread across the country from New England to Florida, Nova Scotia to New Mexico and CA and several places between, They let me know what they are up to by commenting on my blog but they are so busy with their own lives most times I have to assume " no news is good news". Now I are starting on a new adventure so will try to give daily updates until we get settled into a routine. Then I know even if I am getting older and should settle down I will start looking for some new and exciting adventure to start. Welcome aboard. Norman died Oct 30, 2017 so I am continuing the journey alone with the aid of my children, grand children and great grand children. At present I am living with my daughter and we are 7 in one house and cover four generations. We range in age from 7 to 85 and are finding common ground, we are living proof that multi generations can live and function in a three bedroom house if they really want to. Soon my grandson will have his house built next door so we all will have a room of their own except for the seven year old twins who by choice will share a room.

  1. What a great time with your family visiting! Of course now you are a bit tired. A GOOD tired though! I have been at Hampton Beach for a week with 5 other nursing school classmates. We rent a house with everything and did the same last summer. We graduated togther 54 yrs. ago and have stayed in touch like ” sisters “. Wonderful vacation of talk, laughs and good seafood! Jade stayed at the Humane Society kennel and survived but is so happy now to be home. I miss my friends and find it lonely again. Must get used to my own company and Jade’s. Having lots of wood rot repaired on the house now. Getting to be a much bigger mess and will cost me thousands of $s I’d much rather spend on fun but……….has to be taken care of. So home and back to reality!

Wish I had one of your peaches to eat on my breakfast.
    Take care, Love always, Nancy

    • What a wonderful vacation!! I bet you talked nonstop every day. We are almost back to normal. I guess I got the bug that James had as I sleep all the time and can’t eat. Of course it won’t hurt me to go a long time without eating, I have never been able to get rid of the extra weight. The peaches are beautiful this year. Not a bug on them and so big. We are canning them and so glad to get them. There are no apples around here this year or very few so it buy any it is $40 a bushell. We don’t have enough grapes to make the juice for this year so I guess with apples so high we will have to buy juice this year. We will get some tomato juice but not as much as we had hoped as our tomatoes didn’t do much this year. Maybe next year we will have the secret to those also. So nice to hear from you, do keep in touch. Love you Carol

So nice to read your letters. Hope you are getting some rest today. You deserve it. ♥

    • I got a lot of rest, more than I wanted. When James arrived last week he didn’t feel good and I guess it is his bug that I got. I couldn’t stay awake or eat anything all day yesterday. I am some better this morning but still can’t eat without losing it. This too will pass, James had it for two days so I think I am about over it also. I have lots of peaches that I need to can so we will do some today and hopefully finish them this week. Thanks for you comments, it is nice to know someone out there cares.
