Now to the present. After breakfast this morning we went out to the lower garden to see how it faired with all the rain. We got 2 1/2 inches yesterday, beautiful rain!! The gardens were great. I weeded the new beans while Norman weeded the tomatoes. Then I put Super Rainbow (fertilizer) on the brussel sprouts and Norman put some on the tomatoes along with the rest of the lime. The tomatoes look much better with the addition of calicum and lime. We got four tomatoes to have for supper and I got three zucchini for dinner. Then just before dinner we picked three and a half pints of blueberries. After dinner we made blueberry sauce and canned that. I call “Apples and More” to see if the apples were almost ready and Agnes said there would be no apples this year. The long dry spell and high heat made all the apples drop off the trees. She also said they have not been well so they are closing their orchards and will not open again next year. Now where can we get the apples? We will have to look in McMinnville and see if we can find a place, otherwise we will have to get them at the farmer’s market and they cost alot there as none of those farmer’s raise their own so there is another person to make a profit from them. Today we had to prop up the peach tree. I did not thin the peaches so there are so many on the tree it was pulling the tree up by the roots. We picked four and had two of them this afternoon. they are not fully ripe yet but still better than many that you get in the store. I will let the other two ripen a little more. They should be ready to pick when Patty gets here so she can help me can them and she can take some home fresh. That will please her. Have a good night.
