Another busy day. Still no rain so as soon as i got up I went down to water the gardens. The tomatoes are looking great. We should be canning some next week. After breakfast Laura and I did some cooking. I made bread and Laura made some chocolate chip cookies, both things came ut great. We will have the bread for supper, everyone likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Lauras cookies are almost half gone already – Luke loves them and Grandad ate his share also. Yesterday we canned 6 pints of green beans and garlic and 6 pints of zuchinni in tomato sauce. Then we put up 6 quarts of dill pickles while Laura made some lemon aide syrup. I picked the vegetables before breakfast and after breakfast we went to the farmer’s market and Walmart to get the lemons. We got corn on the cob and potatoes at the farmer’s market. Next year we will plant lots more potatoes. I hope to plant some sweet potatoes also. This noon we tried one of the butternut squash. it was good but could stand to be on the vine a little longer so I won’t pick any more until mid Aug. Some of the butternut squash look as big as hubard squash. i guess they really like the horse manure! Only three more day with the kids so we have to make room for one more day baking with Laura, she wants to make some cookies to take home when she goes and we want to have French bread pizzas one night. Maybe Saturday would be a good day to do that. tomorrow I will have to pick the vegetables again and can them. Have a great day!!
